  The 2nd workshop on Material
Development
 for the
Homogeneous Hadronic
Calorimeter Detector Concept

May 9, 2010, IHEP, Beijing, China

The 2nd workshop dedicated to the Material development for the Homogeneous Hadronic Calorimeter (HHCAL) detector concept will be held at IHEP, Beijing, on May 9, 2010, which follows the 1st workshop held at SIC, Shanghai, on February 19, 2008. This workshop is arranged just one day before the XIV International Conference on Calorimetry in High Energy Physics (Calor 2010), which will be held at IHEP, Beijing, from May 10 to 14, 2010.

Homogeneous electromagnetic calorimetry has made important contributions to physics discoveries and precision measurements in high energy physics. Materials used for homogeneous
electromagnetic calorimetry are ranged from crystals, noble liquids to various glasses. The HHCAL detector concept was proposed to improve the hadronic energy resolution by using homogeneous medium with total absorption nature for hadrons, and by using the dual readout approach measuring both Cherenkov and scintillation light.

The 2nd HHCAL workshop will have a one day program covering both detector performance and material development. Scientists from both the HEP community and the material developers are encouraged to participate in this workshop. Abstracts for presentations in this workshop should be submitted through the Calor 2010 Web:

The international organization committee consists of:

Marcel Demarteau, Steve Derenzo, Auffray Etiennette, Jun Fang, Alexander Gektin, Paul Lecoq, Michele Livan, William Moses, Adam Para, Yifang Wang, Marvin Weber, Tianchi Zhao and Ren-yuan Zhu

The conveners of the 2nd HHCAL workshop are:

Adam Para, Yifang Wang and Ren-yuan Zhu
